HFN is the only law firm in Israel to have a dedicated full-spectrum Public International Law department. Advising a wide variety of clients, ranging from multinational corporations and governments to private academic think tanks, the HFN team has extensive experience in a diverse range of public international law issues.

Our Work:

Much of the work in this field is extremely sensitive, and therefore requires high levels of confidentiality. Recent examples of the type of work conducted by the Public International Law department include: advising international corporations on several international disputes relating to significant discoveries of natural resources; advising both governmental and private bodies in relation to several international border disputes; participating in a brief to the International Criminal Court (ICC); advising a leading multinational relating to international law aspects of off-shore oil rigs; representing a group of European companies in a criminal investigation in Europe relating to their alleged involvement in war crimes; and providing expert international law opinions in high profile court cases, both in Israel and abroad.

Our Team:

The HFN Public International Law department is led by Daniel Reisner, who prior to joining HFN served for almost 20 years as a senior international law expert for the Israeli government, 10 years of which as head of the Israel Defence Force’s International Law department. In addition, Daniel has served as the legal adviser for the Israeli government in all of its peace negotiation rounds with its neighbours over the last 20 years, and has successfully negotiated numerous treaties and international agreements.
