Ronen Hausirer is a Partner in the Technology Licensing Group of the Hi-Tech Department. Specialising in commercial transactions between Israeli companies and major corporations in Asia, Europe and the U.S., Ronen advises clients from a range of industries including software, semiconductors, telecommunications, and media in a variety of transactions, most notably technology licensing, OEM, general commercial transactions, joint ventures and strategic collaborations.

Ronen advises clients on an ongoing basis regarding intellectual property and licensing issues including being deeply involved in the strategic decision-making and implementation processes with clients, both on the commercial and legal issues.

One recent and notable transaction is the establishment of a multinational standard-setting organisation and patent licensing pool for the semiconductor and consumer electronics industries. Ronen’s involvement included advising on and drafting strategic licensing and royalty collection policies, drafting of organisational documents and licensing policies and heavy involvement in negations with establishing partners and subsequent strategic joining members.

Ronen also leads the R&D incentive practice at HFN, and has substantial experience in advising Israeli and multinational corporations regarding R&D incentives matters, such as funding programmes of the Office of the Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor ("OCS"), bi-national and multi-national funds, EU and other international programmes. The support offered as part of HFN's R&D incentives practice includes advising and supporting corporations and investors regarding obligations and limitations under the R&D Law and the various other funding programmes offered by the OCS.

Ronen has successfully represented companies in front of the OCS, negotiated and drafted rulings and settlements enabling the successful consummation of M&A transactions meeting the specific needs of multinational corporations with respect to their international R&D strategies and needs, allowing the transfer of manufacturing abroad, source code escrow agreements required to meet various commercial and disaster-recovery needs, finance and performance of regulatory programmes, etc.
