The Law to Promote Competition and Reduce Concentration 2013

On December 11th, 2013 the Law to Promote Competition and Reduce Concentration, 5774-2013 ("The Law") was published in the official records of the State of Israel. The objective of the Law is to reduce the concentration throughout the economy and promote competition in various industries.

The Law sets out provisions dealing with three different aspects: first, to creates a legal framework which determines in what situations regulators will be required to take into account considerations with respect to market concentration and industry competition; the second aspect prohibits company structures established in the form of a pyramid, and as a result, requires the dismantling of those pyramids. The third aspect provides for the conditions of holding a significant financial entity and a significant real body by the same shareholder.
