Time to Retire | Article by Adv. Orly Gerbi and Adv. Chagai Vered | Globes

Retirement Age Law, enacted in 2004 as part of a comprehensive reform in the field, initially established age 67 as the age where an employer can require an employee to retire.
 
While on the surface the imposition of retirement because of age, is in conflict with the Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1988, which prohibits discrimination against an employee because of his age, and the Basic Law of Human Dignity and Freedom passed in 1992, it has taken a decade for the Supreme Court to address the issue.
